About Integrative Medicine
Integrative Medicine focuses on health and healing rather than on treating symptoms or just treating disease. The client and practitioner partner to seek health and healing, empowering the client to become and stay healthy. The focus is on the person as a whole, addressing all factors that affect health (mind, body, spirit and lifestyle). We acknowledge the wisdom and usefulness of all modalities: conventional medicine, natural therapies, and effective ancient healing techniques. The approach in Integrative Medicine is compassionate and patient centered.
However, we have found that the “spirit” component of the holistic approach of body, mind and spirit often is overlooked or addressed in a superficial manner by many integrative medicine providers. MICAH is committed to examining and working with the spirituality component of health and healing in a thorough, deep manner tailored to the individual’s faith and spiritual beliefs.
There is a health care crisis in America. Health care costs soar, and the health of Americans are declining. The United States has the most expensive health care system, yet ranks 26th in health amongst 35 developed countries.
Healing and wholeness require more than technology and a five minute or limited health care visit.
Mental health is more than a prescription for anxiety or antidepressant medication. Spirituality is more than attending a Sunday service. At the Minnesota Institute of Contemplation and Healing we believe everyone has the potential of being authentically healthy and whole.
